Immolation
Ability Name: (Immolation)
Ability Type: (Range AoE)
Ability Cost: (850 MP)
Ability Cooldown: (10 posts)
Ability Element: (Fire, Light)
Ability Description: (Serenae grips her hand into a tight fist, which releases a flash of red light. She then moves her arm as if throwing something and a purging fireball about 2 feet across erupts from her hand. It travels at high speed in a low arc until it hits something. Upon impact, the fireball explodes in a 10 foot spherical radius, causing insanely hot flames to burn the area for two posts. Anything hit by the explosion will likely be in excruciating pain and be immobilized inside, to take more damage from the fire. The lingering inferno looses an intense heat and bright light upon the surrounding area as well while it burns, which can be distracting. The damage dealt by the explosion could easily KO anything with less than tier 4 endurance, would cause fatal Fire and Light damage to anything with tier 4 endurance, and would cause major Fire and Light damage to tier 5 endurance characters. (Any character hit by the spell that was already KO'd would be incinerated. Effect only applicable during competitive RPs.) Once the spell expires, a charred crater about 2 feet deep is left in the ground at the center, that tapers to be more shallow as it reaches the extent of the spells reach.)

Re: Immolation
Everyone on site is treated with second chance. This means, you can't insta-kill anyone on the first hit. They can be K.O'd from the move, and they can be incinerated after they've been knocked out, but they cannot be instantly incinerated.

Re: Immolation
Then I suppose they would be KO'd and left with severe burns over the majority of their body, ashen extremities that would crumble on touch, and, if used on someone that was already KO'd, their body would be incinerated. Is that fine?

Re: Immolation
Mechanically, they would just be knocked out. If they're already knocked out and hit with this, they'd be incinerated.
There's a 1050 MP spell that follows these same parameters. It's how the site operates.

Re: Immolation
I wasn't asking in regards to the mana cost, I was asking if that would be a permitted functionality of the spell. That way I'm not instantly killing people and whatnot.

Re: Immolation
I just meant, that no matter how powerful the spell is, a player's body can only be augmented in that way after they're knocked out.

Re: Immolation
If you still wish for major damage on t5's but not enough knock them out this has to be in 800's
Around 850
725 would just be to knock out a t4
If your good with just knocking out a t4 then it's fine where it is

Re: Immolation
I was told 725 and haven't changed the effects at all, other than a minor context tweak to clarify that incinerating would only be applicable within a competitive RP. Why is it different now from before?

Re: Immolation
It's a mistake on my account when I was talking to GM about this I was told 725 would be to knock out a t4
anything with t5 end to knock out in one shot takes anything above 1000mp
Therefore I currently myself am putting the middle ground to majorly damage a t5 as 850 though I may be told different later
Again I apologize for the inconcevience

Re: Immolation
HEALING fatal damage to T4 would translate to major damage to a T5 character. If 725 MP is fatal damage to a T4 character, why would that not translate the same way healing does?

Re: Immolation
I can't seem to find the exact topic that was referenced, however that is how damage amounts were explained to myself and a few others via an informal conversation on Skype.
After rereading some of this topic so far, I want to clarify the ability a bit more, just in case you're under the wrong impression with the damage it's intended to cause. It would instantly KO a character with tier 3 endurance and leave a tier 4 character barely conscious but on the verge of passing out, and deal heavy amounts of damage to a character with tier 5 endurance.

Re: Immolation
That would still be 850 I understand that you are tying to simplify the effect however the cost still remains the same for those affects

You told me 725 before, and I haven't changed it since then.Veara wrote:After talking with the Gm for this to happen exactly the way you want it would at min cost 725
It doesn't even KO a tier 4. It leaves them conscious still.Veara wrote:725 would just be to knock out a t4

Re: Immolation
Throughout an approval, you should expect the person approving your ability to change their mind occasionally, even if nothing has changed from the spell. It's clear that Veara originally got the number of 725MP from the Game Master as he was unsure at the time. Since then, he's come to a conclusion of his own that it should be higher. And Veara holds more authority over the abilities than the GM. Arguing over something that wasn't even final and approved won't get you anywhere when it's clear Veara is set on 850MP.
However, it seems like Veara may have misread the spell and thought it included T4s (as I made that mistake also).

That is why I attempted to clarify the ability. Veara said that he understood and so I made the edits. I then posted my reasoning for my arguments and stated that I had already made the edits.Zyvonia wrote:However, it seems like Veara may have misread the spell and thought it included T4s (as I made that mistake also).
