Re: You've Got Spirit, Kid
Alexander had been rather held up on his trek through the crowd. The young prince was pawed after by young woman (and men, much to his personal confusion) as well as addressed by confused and worried guards, and equally concerned subjects that weren't there to win his hand but eat food and socialize. He politely dismissed and declined them as he waded through what was once a parted sea, now crashed back onto him as a wave of people talking, dancing, and smiling. It was refreshing to see. But, Alexander wanted to see something else- the performer who had captivated him with her independent spirit.
Okay, maybe he had a tiny crush on her. Not really anything in a romantic context- her certainly didn't wish to date her. Dating was still out of the question after last time. He did admire her courage- most people would have considered that social suicide. However, he failed to understand that what he perceived as courageous was actually ignorance to the society she was in. Alexander was aware that not all worlds were 'proper' like the Kingdom of Dreams would have been. However, while he knew this he still primarily, even though he had frequent escapades, saw the world as he was brought up to.
That was why the young woman left an impression. She was different, like Betahni. Like Oriel. She wasn't fake. The Kingdom was built on sincere dreams, but despite being loathe to admit it he knew that often earnest dreams had to be built on uncertain ground, false relationships. and incomplete information. The nature of dreams made it possible. The nature of dreams resulted in happiness. The nature of dreams... they easily changed into nightmares at the most gentle jarring of their fragile states.
But when he arrived at the stage, they were absent. He looked around for a moment, temporarily becoming disheartened. Had he missed them? He hoped otherwise. A few more moments of looking, more distractions from people in the crowd, and he became all but positive that the couple he sought to meet had already left. Yet, the fact that he was made to stay by those around him let him catch a glimpse of her hair, and his coat. Were they at the wine table? There was a lovely selection to be had, surely. Warm wines, cool winds, cold wines, hot wines (something Alexander failed to understand- didn't the alcohol evaporate?) and probably more.
It was worth a shot, right? Alexander once more began to make his way towards them, still entangled within the crowd.
