Concise and logical, Mercy is always operating to achieve a direct goal and does not deviate to satisfy his urges or desires. He is a being unknown to failure and compromise - he will achieve his own ends by whatever means, caring not if mortals would deem them unsavory. He prefers sour over sweet, and refuses to indulge in the eating of hearts as a form of sustenance, as they encourage emotional behavior and have a psychogenic effect on his mind. Because of this, he lives in constant hunger and torment from Devil.

History

The Heartless of a renown scientist who gave his heart to the darkness and forgot himself but not his ethics, curiosity and intrigue innate to the weathered babe. He has been dormant for some time, attempting to discover his past life as "Tobias Mercy", taking his name and identity as a matter of convenience and to better appropriate himself to the worlds. This pseudo-false identity came complete with a laboratory in Radiant Garden and years of complex research notes over Heartless (a species he soon discovered that he was a part of). Refusing to ever devour a heart, the more-Heartless aligned Guardian 'Devil' emerged from the shadow of Mercy, which instigates negative thoughts and actions. All of Tobias' efforts are put forth to containing his bestial innards and maintain the shaky dominance over the creature that lurks within. The only way to satiate it is to feed it the hearts of those unlucky enough to be devoured by the greedy creature, much to Mercy's disgust.
