Mirage Hearts Podcast?
Hey there,
There's been some talk in the Skype chat about starting a podcast for the site. Personally, I'm fully supportive of this idea, so I thought I'd post this topic to keep track of the discussion and allow everyone to pitch in their ideas.
Do you think there should be a single member in charge of hosting and organizing the podcasts, or should the host change every so often? Should the podcasts be purely informational, or be a place where members can talk and joke freely without an organized plan? How should we set each podcast up? Feel free to post your own questions or suggestions.
As a note, I would recommend that the podcasts only refer to events/characters/topics of Mirage Hearts and should refrain from mentioning any other site.

Re: Mirage Hearts Podcast?
Alright, hey there Lucio!
So, I think this sounds like a brilliant idea. I would love to be apart of something like this since I hadn't been on it the first few times around. So, my thoughts are that we shouldn't be super focused on either informational nor freewheeling, but rather both. That way no one can get burned out or disinterested a couple of episodes after we start.
As for the host- maybe one or two and we can switch out after a while. I dunno. As for setting it up and everything else, I'm pretty green so I wouldn't know much about that kind of thing.

I agree with what mania said about the super focused, but for a time based thing(schedule) I think maybe one every month maybe one every other week? Should be good like that.

Re: Mirage Hearts Podcast?
We should probably keep the same host/hosts. The host in question should be an active member who aspires to the position and is able to keep the podcast on track when they need to. Ideally they should also be funny, entertaining, and interesting to listen to or at least have something to offer to the conversation.
As for guests, we could always just go with having the host pick them, but if we wanna ensure there's no bias and give everyone a chance to be on the podcast then we could always leave it up to lady luck. The members would post in a topic that would serve as a "drawing" and would be assigned a number based off when their reply was posted. So, for example, if Guest was the first to reply they'd be number 1 in the drawing. The topic would stay open for a limited amount of time and once closed the OP would make a final post to randomize the guests. So if there were four guest slots and ten people entered then the final post would look something like this.
Of course, there is an obvious problem with this way of doing things. Since it's all based on chance the randomizers could end up rolling the same person twice. There are ways to work around this though. We could make separate drawing topics for each guest slot and require that people limit themselves to posting in only one of them. This could lead to a lot of clutter in the OOC areas, but we could always just delete the threads after we gather the final results or make a separate subforum for all the drawings and move all finished ones there. Alternatively, we could simply have the OP make a reroll post for the randomizer(s) that landed on the same number and edit it until it/they land(s) on a number not belonging to any of the established winners.
There are additional measures we could take to ensure everyone gets an equal chance to be on the podcast. We could, for instance, rule that previous winners are not allowed to reenter the next drawing so that their chances are limited to every other podcast. It's ultimately up to you guys and what direction you wanna take this system in (assuming you want to use it at all).

Congratulations to the winners!

I am up for being the Host( or one of them.) I have free time up the wazoo, and have background expiernce in it. Also, I think we should do the whole Top poster of the month thing or something like that. But it could just be me falling back into something that went away a long time ago because I want to see it in action. (apparently Drakar was one for like 3 months)

The random thing doesn't seem to have a point. Why not just let the people who want to be on come on?
If it's an issue of having too many people, first-come-first-served.

I agree with Isla. This should be both a community thing and a fun thing, don't make too many rules that it stops being fun.
Pick a designated date and time to do the podcasts. And then, whoever is on at that time can just do it, maybe put a minimum requirement. First come first serve. Make a community account so you can podcast from the same location.
Also, give room for going off topic to talk about games, books, and other events (as long as it's interesting or fun to talk about).
