RP 'Grading' and alike.
What the heck is RP Grading?
RP, or role-play, grading, is something I came up with. The idea is that we would make another section for where RPs would be posted into after completion that are non-raid. What would happen is that whoever would be managing the RP grading would check the rp and 'grade' it. What grading does:
Those are the acquirable things and what Grading really is. The whole point of Grading is to reward people who can roleplay very well by giving them more competitive points and to kinda balance the meta a bit. Just to clarify, when submitting, state what reward each rper would like. Also, there are boosters.
So, that's RP Grading in a nutshell-oh no wait, one more.
What should RP's be graded on?
Welp! That's all I got for RP Grading. Maybe this will actually get accepted into the site...see you guys later!

1. Allow usage of slots. This means, until you have an RP graded, you cannot 'use' slots. Basically, you still start with 46, but then, if your rp is graded and I say it deserves five slots, then you are allowed to use five slots.2.Raise your Character Tier. Okay, another thing that changes other features: Character Tier 'Points'. What would happen is that you would earn points to raise your Character Tier by one, and points would be earned by getting your RP graded. However, you must choose from one of the two (plus the third below) when you submit an rp for grading.3.Unlock Drive forms. What this is that, when you unlock Drive, you only have the first form of Drive available. You would unlock more by acquiring Drive Points, which you can also ask for, but they require noticeably more effort to acquire.
Those are the acquirable things and what Grading really is. The whole point of Grading is to reward people who can roleplay very well by giving them more competitive points and to kinda balance the meta a bit. Just to clarify, when submitting, state what reward each rper would like. Also, there are boosters.
Booster No.1: There are 3 or more people rping with you. For every other person who rps decently enough, there would be a bit of a boost overall to everyone.Booster No.2: First RP bonus. Aw c'mon, everyone starts from somewhere, and for some if you don't get going right away, you get disheartened-so then you get a large noticeable boost if it's your first RP.
So, that's RP Grading in a nutshell-oh no wait, one more.
What should RP's be graded on?
1.Grammar: You can't make a Good RP when they're no full stops, paragraphs, and the whole's things kind of disorganized. To keep this part going strong, every different character should have a different text color, Use new paras when another person is speaking OR you're saying something else again/you're going to another area. And C/P your RP's in Microsoft Word to see spelling mistakes, mistaken definitions, etc.2.Descriptions: Be honest: Good descriptions is the most important factor in grading. I mean, saying 'She punched him' is a lot more bland than 'she threw a punch at him, trying to hit his jaw, holding back some of her power while still accidentally launching herself'. And use. Good. Adjectives. Ex: Instead of got, Contract. Instead of Pretty, dazzling. Instead of weird, mythical. Instead of bright, neon (some cases). But don't accidentally change the meaning of what you intend to say.3.Word Count: Hard to explain. You see, how much you write can either make or break a post. If you're trying to artificially inflate your word count, we can tell. But, if you're very descriptive, I can tell when you have many words. Even if you're not, try to increase your word count quite reasonably, not artificially.4.Plot: Ah yes. The second most important factor in this entire thing. A good plot makes an RP. A bad plot breaks an rp. Try to make it interesting and unique, while giving it your own style, and stray from comedy/Disney Princess stories.. Also FYI, this technically apply to the characters as well, so don't have bland characters either; give them life.

Here's to hoping, friend. You're alright in my book. This site could do with an incentive/penalty system for good or bad play. Some form of regulated progression as well, so people won't just stack up max-tier characters from beginning.

Ah, thanks for the support, friend.
Wait, I can just stack up my character max tier right now?
I'll just do it by how much I think I tried.

this would require a lot of time and effort from the staff, which is not viable as they are here for fun and not getting paid.

Are you implying fun is not achievable without time and effort? :/G.o.D wrote:this would require a lot of time and effort from the staff, which is not viable as they are here for fun and not getting paid.

Re: RP 'Grading' and alike.
yes bc this would require staff members to read through rp topics that may not be inherently interesting to them and it would tire them out. it's like editing a paper, and while editing one paper is not bad, doing thirtyy papers ends up taking a lot of time up. not to mention that staff still have other duties they need to do on top of in not only site stuff but real life stuff.
in addition, this site is actually a story system and this would be something that would take it back to it's competitive system.

Re: RP 'Grading' and alike.
Exactly what Shirou said. What makes a competitive system a competitive system to begin with, starts with there being a reward for "good roleplaying." The whole point of our system, right, is to give everyone a general idea of how powerful our characters are WITHOUT having them constantly having to explain it in every. Single. Post. Grading means you have to have our Lore staff (which isn't big in the least) to go through every single thread, grade it, then dole out rewards. They aren't being paid to do it and it stops being fun after the 3rd topic.
I want everyone to realize that this site is a break away from work and while staff here do have responsibilities, this site isn't our go-to priority.

Re: RP 'Grading' and alike.
Thank you for the suggestion and concern you have for Mirage Hearts. I'm not sure I understand restricting the slot system and what purpose that would serve, but that is not part of my jurisdiction either. That is up to the tech staff and owners so I will remain neutral on this. What I do know is that this is no longer a competitive system and to do this we would be leaning back towards that.
The fact of the matter is that the staff have a life outside of this website. It's not being implied that time and effort doesn't make things fun, but that what you are suggesting would require time that the staff doesn't have. College, jobs, relationships, etc. These are all things we have to balance along with the duties we already have. I agree that it wouldn't hurt to raise our standards if this is what the community as a whole desires, but you have to remember that this is also a casual role-playing site.
If there was someone willing to put all their effort into this one idea and nothing else... maybe. Like G.o.D and Marigold said, that person would have to read through topics that may not interest them at all. This would get old quickly. I imagine that this individual would have little to no time to rp themselves--something a lot of the staff is suffering from already for reasons listed above. Plus, we would have to trust this person to be fair and not adopt an elitist/grammar nazi attitude which is personally my concern. If not this, I would be the one who would have to handle all this and I would flat out refuse to accept that responsibility.

Re: RP 'Grading' and alike.
keep in mind, and i know i probably sound like a broken record, that this site is for fun and for anybody to come in to tell their own story. we don't, nor do we want to, start setting a standard based on grammar and whatnot. if ppl wanna improve their writing, they can get feedback, but it's never going to be a required thing.

Re: RP 'Grading' and alike.
I agree. This site is for fun, and it is not a competitive system anymore. however, there s no real sense of progression I.E. I could literally make my character V every stat by posting at the start with no backlash. That is not progression.
