Thicker Than Water [Private]

[Emilia]

It didn't take long for them to arrive. Just as quickly as they had disappeared from the islands, the three women (and Mr. Cuddles) would arrive in a new world inside a deep forest. The corridor would appear seemingly out of thin air and from it they'd emerge with a more or less somber atmosphere following them closely behind. So far, Emilia hadn't exactly been enjoying her first day in this new universe. What should have been a smooth and simple move from one home to another had grown... complicated, to say the least. It was a real pity; she wasn't even able to save that guy before he could get away! Nevertheless, she had no time to waste dwelling on the past, and she was well aware of it. Her mother was in a dire condition and, to make matters worse, the place where they had arrived didn't exactly look like it had many people who could help... or any people at all for that matter. Save for the surrounding vegetation and the distant chirping of crickets and other insects, there weren't any particular signs of life on this area of the world. With an exhausted sigh, Emilia would gently lay her (presumably) still unconscious mother on the ground and survey the surrounding area briefly.

The darkness that had been used to form the corridor had not simply disappeared, but instead was currently wrapped around the stub that was once Death's left leg, functioning as a sort of makeshift magical bandage. For the moment the pink-haired woman would be alright, but a mere temporary solution wasn't good enough; they needed to find a fix soon, and doing that was exactly Emilia's intention.

[O'rya]

Slowly she finally awoke and at first she felt like had just awoken from a bad dream. Opening her eyes she simply blinked and looked around finding herself to be now on a forest rather then stuck on the wharf. For a moment, she found herself with a warm relief surrounding her body. That was...until she attempted to stand up. When she went to stand and couldn't feel her leg she tried to lay one leg on top of another, however she couldn't. Desperately moving her the left strap of her shirt she stared at her shoulder and saw the trident. Confirm that this was indeed not a nightmare, however it was a reality. Her pupils felt dilated and she began to look around unable to move her body from the pain that suddenly began to hit her like a truck. The woman went to scream, however nothing came out of her mouth only a simple squeak. She finally resigned herself and she breathed heavily until she was able to calm herself down enough to speak these next words

"Emilia dear, be a sweetheart and come slit your momma's throat."

[Sin]

Standing at the exit of the portal, the wilds of the forest surrounded them for as far as one could see. Sin’s somber expression was made present for any to see. She was less than pleased. And with her sister and lover so direly injured, there was a sense of urgency that had attached itself to her. Her glowing blood red eyes slowly rolled over to Emilia and O’rya was the later was laid down on the forest’s floor. Thankfully, her niece was able to temporarily bandage up the stub that was O’rya’s leg with the darkness that was formerly the Corridor.


It wasn’t long after that, that she bagan to come to, and Sin was right there by her side. There was the expected bit of confusion and pain that would come from a body as battered as hers, but it hurt even her. Sin grimaced as she watched the pink-haired woman flop around, and even grit her teeth at the request she presented Emilia.


There was a sharp smack that would scare several birds from their perches as O’rya was smacked, answer to that request before any other move could be made. “Don’t talk like that, Death-nee. We can still fix this. And then, after we find the others, we will find him. We will make him pay for what he’s done to you. And I will not take no for an answer.”


As she spoke, Sin was building fiery magic in her palm. With her final statement, that palm was slapped onto the wound that was held together by Emilia’s darkness, searing through it and burning into O’rya’s flesh and bone. Her main objective was to sear the gaping hole shut and to coagulate anything that might come out otherwise. “You cannot choose salvation now, when you have so much more to do. Don’t leave your dirty laundry for your family to finish up, Death-nee. That’s just rude.” Her hand had finished its work at O’rya’s leg and had then moved to the three holes in her stomach, courtesy of Neptune’s trident. Each were carefully sealed shut, with Sin never once taking her eyes off O’rya.


“Do you understand?”

[Emilia]

A quiet squeak (rendered easily audible by the thick silence of the woodlands) reached Emilia's ears and alerted her to her mother's awakening. It seemed Death had come to and in a relatively short period of time as well. That was good, right? If she was able to regain consciousness this early then they had to be doing something correct. A smile took form on what had been an otherwise disheartened face and its owner spun around to face the source of it. Resurgent joy had clearly taken residence within the girl, but it would be short-lived in the end, snuffed out by a simple request which wiped any semblance of cheer from her face. The spoken sentence weighed down heavily upon the atmosphere and filled it with dread; all Emilia could do was speechlessly stand there with visible shock. Save one of her family? She hadn't done something like that for years, not since the magic show way back when, and that was... no, she didn't want to do this; she couldn't do this. It wasn't selfish to refuse, not this time, it wasn't. They had a mission, they were supposed to stick together, they...!

The echo of the slap pulled her back to reality and Sin's response to Death gave Emilia a much-needed rush of relief. Her aunt was so wise, but then again, the same could be said for all of Apocalypse if you asked her. Normally that'd include her mother, but O'rya wasn't acting very smart right now, though she couldn't be blamed of course: it was all that krill's fault. With a sigh, she'd slowly walk up to the two of them and crouch down to her mother's level, embracing her in a gentle hug that would last for a few seconds before pulling away. As she withdrew, however, she'd notice the symbol on Death's shoulder and would once again freeze with surprise.

The imprint of a trident.

"...There's, uh, something on your shoulder Mom."

[O'rya]

She awaited her child to end her, however that wouldn't be the case at all. The next thing she felt was a sting on her cheek as she simply stared wide eyed at her sister. Barely able to register what happened as she simply stared forward at her. The words she spoke struck a cord with her, however at the same time the woman felt a rage boiling deep within her.

Neptune...caused her to doubt herself...Neptune injured her and more importantly Neptune put HIS mark on her. As if she was his tool to command, as if she was his rag to do with as he pleased.

All this and more fueled the girl as she hissed in pure pain and bit down on her tongue as she writhed in pain, her wounds being shut closed with flames and her sister's magic. Her eyes widened, her mouth was agape as her body twitched, though before she could even curse or anything. She felt her child hugging her and quickly she returned the hug while staring at her sister who wanted an answer. Unable to look her back in the eyes, until now. While holding her daughter in her arms she simply nodded at Sin. She simply needed to calm down and although she was in pain, missing a leg and possibly had her life cut short....still there had to be a way out of this...

Though when her child pointed out her the trident on her shoulder she simply sighed and laid back as she began to think of where to go from here...however her thought's were interrupted with her daughter asking her about her shoulder.

"Momma was marked by that man....thats one reason why momma is a little out of it right now." She admitted to them lying her head back and simply blinking as she thought of ways to get through this, trying to ignore the immense pain coursing through her lower body at the present time.

[Sin]

Making sure that she didn’t accidentally sear her darling niece, Sin had finished up her task of sealing O’rya’s mangled body’s wounds. Relieved by the fact that she no longer wished salvation upon herself, Sin breathed out. It was at that time that Emilia had pulled away and made her comment. Sin’s eyes darted to her shoulder to see the brand that that bastard had left on her sister. Immediately, her face scrunched into a scowl and a low growl escaped her. She didn’t need to be told what it was to know what it did.


O’rya laid back in the soft grass and answered to her child. Sin’s eyes remained on her, attempting to think of a way out of the current situation and keep the pink haired woman beside them, beside her family. Though something did come to mind. “Death-nee, my love, we’ll get you a new body.” She stated with a fair bit of confidence, looking O’rya in the eyes. “I know you likely grew attached to this one, but it wouldn’t be the first time, no? We’ll find Famine, and another body, and you’ll be as good as new. No wounds. A set of working legs. No damned trident.”

[Emilia]

A new body, huh? Emilia couldn't help but frown a bit at that suggestion. It was sad to think that just one little jerk had forced them to this and beyond that it was confusing. Nevertheless, she remained optimistic. He wouldn't be able to evade salvation forever. Forcing a reassuring and toothy grin onto her face, the girl would nod her head at Sin's words and do her best to look on the bright side of things as she attempted to encourage Death further. "Yeah, yeah! It'll be a piece of cake. We can find a new body in no time." Hopefully no time was accurate. The sooner they got this problem fixed, the better; she wanted to go take that nap already and there was no way she was gonna even consider doing that until her mother was a-okay. Stifling a yawn in her sleeve and disguising it as a light cough, Emilia spent the seconds wandering her mind in search of anything particularly relevant to the situation as she awaited Death's response.

[O'rya]

She looked at both of them and smiled, though she still grimaced. This body held so much memories for her including both of her children and the birth of her second relationship or rather polygamous one. She looked between them raising her hands and staring at them.

Isabella wasn't an idiot.

There was a body made ready for her long ago, however the simple fact of the matter was she really didn't want to let this one go at all.

What did she do to deserve this?

She simply sat there and puffed her breath out, unforunately she had to keep this little piece of information to herself knowing Isabella would be less then pleased if that part got out. An odds are she would be even more angry with her....if she was still alive that is...Ugh! She rustled her hands through her hair, however automatically stopped knowing when Isa saw her she wasn't going to be thrilled at all. Though for now these thoughts had to be pushed to the back of her head.

"Your right, things will work out and we'll finally get underway. Just need to pave the way for her to be able to cross. Then we'll focus on the other things. Emilia dear I'm sorry and thank you Sin...that helped." She smiled at them as she went to stand up, however realized it would be hard to do that with only one leg present at the moment.

[Sin]

Emilia’s dislike of the idea was clear on her lips, and the attempt to hide it was unnecessary, in Sin’s opinion. It was a dire situation, surely. It pissed her off in several different ways, for several different reasons. But for Emilia’s sake, and for Death, she bit back the bitterness in her mouth and nodded in agreement to the girl’s statement.


Quirking a brow as Death ruffled her hair, Sin remained quiet for the time being as her lover spoke. “No problem. You probably enjoyed it anyways…” Muttering the last bit under her breath with a coy grin to accompany it, Sin reached for Death’s arms and pulled her into an upright position and then to stand, seeing as she wasn’t able to do it herself. “Welp, I don’t know about the two of you, but while the outdoors are nice and all, I want a bath and a place to nap that doesn’t involve getting grass in my panties.”


Hoisting Death up onto her back with a bit of a grunt, Sin looked around, shifting the pink haired woman until she was comfortable. “Where, oh where, do we go from here?” She asked allowed, though it was more a comment to herself.

[Emilia]

"You can say that again." Emilia began before being interrupted by a short yawn. This time she didn't bother stifling it: with Death's immediate injuries treated, a general idea of where to go next formulated, and the same sentiment of tiredness having been expressed openly by her aunt, Emilia saw little reason to continue concealing her desire for a nap any longer. Well, that and it was just starting to take too much effort. By now it looked somewhat dark out and what appeared to be early glimpses of moonlight were shining upon the forest and casting a glistening shine on the decaying leaves which littered the ground. Nevertheless, the Vorpal Bunny had no method of confirming the current time, nor did that factor influence things much in comparison to the lingering exhaustion from crossing over and the Daughter of Apocalypse's habitually ingrained love of snoozing. Still, even though she was thinking positively about things, this hectic first day had instilled in her a gnawing anxiety that she couldn't deny was there. She doubted she'd sleep well for a while: not until Death had that new body.

She scooped up the stuffed rabbit in her hands, having previously left it unattended in the heat of the moment, and turned to face her mother and aunt once again. Whatever course of action they decided upon next, she'd put her faith in them and follow through with it.

[Isabella]

The wind picked up for a moment as a large rift appeared in the tree next to where they were standing. What stepped out from that rift made the smile disappear from O'rya's face as realization set in that her real punishment was about about to begin. Isabella ignored the other two for the time being, and the black liquid that made up her tendrils shot from the ground and gripped O'rya's midsection forcibly removing her from Sin's arm and slamming her into one of the nearby trees. The girl being struck with enough force that she went right through the tree as if it were a twig.

"Are you even able to fathom how much trouble you may have caused for us! And......" She was about to continue laying into her. until she looked at her shoulder while O'rya was on the ground writhing in pain. She noticed the trident on her shoulder and she quickly picked her up slamming her against another tree, gripping her neck. Her hand tightened around her small and lithe neck like a noose as the anger she felt toward's O'rya only grew.

"You engaged him and even worse...you let him mark you..was it worth whatever poor sap you slowly sent to paradise, you are the second in this organization and yet this happened?" Isabella spoke dropping her and O'rya falling, however one of her black liquids arm's sprouted from the ground and gripped the girls forehead. Her entire body went limp and her eyes dilated as Isa began to search her memory of what happened after she had left her there...Watching the memories play out in front of her Isabella simply looked over at the limp body of O'rya.

They were behind schedule and now possibly already seen as a threat in the world.

Something needed to be done.

While Isabella continued to walk forward the anger on her face was prevalent as she actually snarled looking back towards the rift. The black tendrils shot forth from the forest ground once more and gripped the sides of the rift stretching open the portal further."You two, in. Now." She spoke once again taking the role of in charge, not in the mood for any possible talk of them saying she may have gone to far or anything such as that.

[Sin]

Nodding to her tired niece, Sin had almost cracked a smile and began to traverse the dark forest around them. This, however, was prevented entirely when her attention swiveled to the suddenly opening rift in space. Facing it at first with a hard stare, it soon melted into one of submissive obedience as the being within walked out, and swiftly took action. In mere seconds, O’rya was ripped from Sin’s grasp and slammed into the nearest object, which happened to be a tree. Wanting to speak out against the action, Sin grit her teeth, knowing better than to intervene lest she wanted to suffer a similar if not worse fate.

Sin stood by silently as Isabella sifted through O’rya’s memories. Her knuckles were white as her fists shook. Her eyes stared down the mother figure as she carried her sister so carelessly across the way, back towards the rift. Knowing what was going to happen already, Sin stept forward and towards the rift as it was being torn open once again. Isabella didn’t need to tell her twice, nor say anything to her in the first place. She would go wherever her family wanted or needed her to be. And right now, it was to recon with the rest of the family so that they could regroup and get their shit together.

So in through the portal she went.

[Emilia]

As the wind picked up around them and the rift emerged, Emilia instinctively took a cautious stance, ready to strike should an enemy emerge from it. After the events that went down at the islands, her first assumption was that Neptune had decided to pursue them, but that notion would quickly be disproven when Famine emerged from the portal. The young girl immediately relaxed, a smile returning to her face, and she opened her mouth to offer her grandmother a greeting. Before she could say a word though, the tendrils stuck Death and Emilia froze in place. Perhaps she should have expected it in hindsight, but even if she had known it was going to happen from the start, it wouldn't have made watching the savage attack on her mother any easier to bear witness to. She wanted to intervene, to stop the tendrils, to plead with Famine, but, well... she knew it'd just make things worse. All she could do was look away and hope it'd end soon; it was awful watching members of the family jump at each other's necks.

Then came the command. It took a moment for her brain to recognize the new information, for the order to click with her, but once it did she'd react almost instantaneously. "I, uh, I..." She tripped over her words unconfidently, still in shock after seeing her mother get beaten like that, eventually just giving up on responding with words and obediently nodding her head. In complete silence, the Vorpal Bunny followed behind her aunt, stepping into the portal and disappearing from sight.
